About

The Town of Madison is located in the beautiful Mount Washington Valley of New Hampshire. Incorporated in 1852, Madison has a long and interesting history as a farming and tourist community. Town tax records reveal that there are approximately 50 barns in Madison which are over 100 years old.

Friends of Madison Library held a wonderfully successful fund raising Barn Tour in July 2014.

In 2015 our fundraiser is an E.E. Cummings Celebration Weekend.

Friends of Madison Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to encourage and support the resources and services of the Madison Library, to co-operate with the Library in developing services and facilities for the community, and to receive and encourage gifts, endowments and bequests to the library.

We need and welcome your financial support of our programs and our mission.  All donations are fully tax deductible.Make a Donation ButtonThank you!

  1. The following comment was posted on Lichen Rancourt’s Remaining Relevant website: “I just ran across this fantastic blog exploring the history of the barns in my hometown. Even better is that it is sponsored by the Friends of the Madison Library and leads up to a summer barn tour fundraiser! Way to serve and represent your community, Madison! I am positively weak with pride.” Thank you Lichen!

This was a delightful event. I loved wandering around town visiting with friends and neighbors as they proudly opened their barns for our inspection and questions. I sure hope the Friends of Madison Library consider another barn tour with seven new barns next year!
